Speculation that AI copied a well-known political voice well enough to fool people over a phone call points to the maturing threat of real-time voice deepfakes.

Among the day's more unsettling notes, @kristenmag raised the possibility that AI had copied Senator McConnell's voice "well enough to convince people they were speaking to him on the phone."
