Liquid AI released LFM3, a family of six open-weight models in the roughly 2-billion-parameter class spanning text, vision, audio, omni, and decision variants, with the text model fitting in about 1GB at 4-bit precision. The headline number is the footprint: at that size, these models run on phones and laptops rather than data centers, as one developer noted the text model "fits in about 1 GB, so it can run on phones and laptops".
