Anthropic Pushes Claude Out of the Chat Window With Motion and Dashboards Beta
Claude can now turn raw data into live interactive dashboards and ideas into animated explainer videos — a move that drags Anthropic squarely into creative production, not just conversation.
Anthropic quietly reframed what Claude is for on Thursday. In a launch post from the company's main account, @claudeai announced that Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion are both in beta, letting users "turn your data into live dashboards and your ideas into animated explainers." The two features move Claude from a text interface into the territory of design tools, business intelligence suites, and motion graphics software — product categories Anthropic has never meaningfully touched before.
The early reaction from people who got hands-on access suggests the Motion feature in particular is the more surprising of the two. @RobertJBye urged users to "try giving it bigger briefs than you think it can handle, as it will seriously impress you," a framing that hints the system degrades more gracefully under ambition than most generative tools. That matters: the failure mode for AI creative tools has historically been that they collapse the moment you ask for something complex. If Motion holds up under larger briefs, it changes the economics of who can produce a polished explainer.
