OpenAI is working on both ends of the agent stack at once. @aidailyprimer reported the company is testing a "persistent mode" for Codex — a shift from ephemeral, per-session coding assistants toward agents that retain state across sessions. Persistence is the unglamorous feature that separates a demo from a colleague; an agent that remembers your codebase and last week's decisions is fundamentally more useful than one that resets every conversation.
