That detail matters more than the headline number. Memory — high-bandwidth memory in particular — has become the binding constraint on AI system cost, and when it moves, everyone downstream feels it. Every hyperscaler capex model, every inference pricing sheet, every startup burn calculation is built on assumptions about how much a training cluster costs. A double-digit jump forces those assumptions to be redrawn.
