The most-shared OpenAI item of the weekend was a joke — probably. As @maria_rcks posted, to viral effect, OpenAI's supposed new 'gpt-6-pluto' will be its cheapest model yet, with pricing dropping below zero, making it the first model that pays you per million tokens. The premise lands because it satirizes something real: the relentless race to the bottom on token pricing has reached a point where negative pricing is a plausible-sounding punchline. That it spread so fast says more about the industry's pricing psychology than about any actual product.
