Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, and Microsoft have collectively invested more than $1.1 trillion in AI infrastructure since 2023, according to estimates cited by @ivke2006. That figure is large enough to be difficult to intuit — it is comparable to the GDP of a mid-sized nation, spent by four companies on data centers, chips, and power over roughly three years.
