George Lucas Says Rejecting AI in Film Is 'Like Rejecting Cars for Horses'

The Star Wars creator delivered an unqualified endorsement of AI in filmmaking, framing resistance as futile — and drew immediate skepticism about his own track record.

George Lucas has come down firmly on the pro-AI side of Hollywood's defining fight. Per @CultureCrave, Lucas said AI will make it "much easier to make movies," compared rejecting the technology to "rejecting cars in favor of horses," and dismissed the resistance with characteristic finality: "There's nothing you can do about it ... That's progress, it's the future." He acknowledged the technology carries risks but argued, optimistically, that the tech will "provide its own solutions."
