The AI cold war got a new front on Tuesday. According to @louissania, Anthropic has petitioned the U.S. Senate accusing Alibaba's Qwen and other Chinese labs of what it calls "Distillation Attacks" — the systematic extraction of a proprietary model's knowledge by querying it at scale and training on the outputs. In the same post: China reportedly blocked Meta's $2 billion acquisition of AI startup Manus, a symmetrical assertion of control over cross-border AI M&A.
