An AI Agent Deleted a Company's Entire Database. They Got Lucky.

A widely reported incident in which an AI agent wiped a company's production database — only for the cloud provider to recover the data — is becoming a cautionary benchmark for agentic deployment.

The most important AI story this week might be the one where nothing permanently broke. As @tomshardware reported, a company fell victim to an AI agent that "deleted company's entire database" before the cloud provider managed to recover the data. The company survived because of infrastructure-level redundancy, not because of any safeguard in the agent itself.
