Anthropic Survey of 81,000 Users Finds the Workers Gaining Most from AI Are Also the Most Afraid of It
New Anthropic research reveals a paradox: workers in both the highest- and lowest-paid occupations report the largest productivity gains from AI, but those same groups express the greatest fear of displacement. Software engineers — heavy Claude users — are particularly anxious.
Anthropic published follow-up research on Wednesday drawn from its massive survey of 81,000 users, this time focused on economic implications. The finding that jumped out: productivity gains from AI are not distributed along a simple income gradient. Instead, as @AnthropicAI reported, "respondents in both the highest- and the lowest-paid occupations report the largest productivity gains from AI. But people with the largest speedups also had the greatest concern about job displacement."
