Tinygrad, the minimalist ML framework created by George Hotz, has merged a pull request adding support for Bonsai-8B, a 1-bit quantized large language model. One-bit models represent the extreme end of the quantization spectrum — compressing model weights to a single bit per parameter, dramatically reducing memory and compute requirements at the cost of some accuracy.
