Google Gemini Lets You Import Chat History From Rival AIs — and Ships Its Biggest Voice Upgrade Yet
Google is making a direct play for competitor lock-in with a new feature that lets users port their preferences and conversation history from other AI chatbots into Gemini, while simultaneously rolling out Gemini 3.1 Flash Live for faster, longer voice conversations.
Google fired two shots at the AI chatbot market on Thursday. First, @GeminiApp announced that users can now import their preferences and chat history from competing AI applications directly into Gemini on desktop. Second, the company shipped what it called Gemini Live's "biggest upgrade yet" — powered by Gemini 3.1 Flash Live — promising faster responses, fewer awkward pauses, and the ability to sustain conversations twice as long as before, as the @GeminiApp account detailed.
